[Vol. 8] The Secret of Warmth

For most Finns, wool socks are very essential for their winter.
Wearing a pair of traditional wool socks and sitting next to the fireplace is a miniature of the ideal Finnish winter lifestyle.

To find out how the traditional wool socks are made,
we paid a visit to Helsingin Villasukkatehdas— meaning Helsinki Wool Sock Factory.
It is the only traditional wool sock factory in Finland that’s using carded wool yarn,
and very possibly the only one in the world.

5pm Express — Your Delivery Company

Skateboarding has always been an important culture for us.

They spread the undefeated attitude from street to street,
so we took this image of shuttling skaters and created a “5pm Express” delivery company
— we use skaters to delivery your packages, on time, and with the realest love.

Of course, the company is just a joke.
But our love for skaters is real.
We made this new merch to show the love, to all skaters making the streets a better place.

Tokyo, one of the most popular destinations for travelers, its co-existence of contemporary and traditional scenes have amazed every visitor.⁣

Oshiage is a district of Sumida Ward in the east of Tokyo, a major interchange station, it’s also where Tokyo Skytree stands at.⁣
And Hotel ONE@Tokyo may be another reason to visit.⁣

The hotel’s facade and interior design are the work of world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma. ⁣
Fusing industrial materials with natural wood, this new hotel exemplifies the contrast found in Oshiage, which retains the feeling of a bygone Edo era, while being within the modern metropolis of Tokyo.⁣

The price is very friendly,⁣
considering the location, design and facilities.⁣
When you’re traveling to Tokyo, ⁣
don’t forget to check out this 10-story and 142-room hotel.⁣

[Interview] Steven Penny – BBC & Ice Cream Collector

Have you ever thought,

you have some friends around you who have done something you didn’t know,

and they will surprise you a lot.

I met Stephen Penny in a local event I hosted in early 2018,

at first he was quietly wandering in the event,

but when I talked to him about streetwear,

he became a different person,

he could keep talking about different things for hours.

And after that I know,

Stephen used to be a banker in several famous banks,

he also hosts The Otherz Podcast.

At the same time,

Stephen is one of the most known Billionaire Boys Club (BBC) collectors in Europe,

and even in the world.

On a recent weekend,

we visited Stephen’s house,

we chatted for a few hours and covered from the streetwear scene in the early 2000s

to his most memorable BBC pieces,

and things happened between him and the BBC brand.

Guest: Stephen Penny ( @steverpenny )

Scent of Home

“What’s the scent of your home?”

There is a scent, even though you haven’t really thought that’s the scent of your home, you realize you are arriving home when you smell it, and it makes you relaxed.

This scent only belongs to you, as it’s formed by those objects you have in your place — books, furnitures, plants, and everything else. We all like joyful smells, and the good smells make us enjoy life better.

[Vol. 6] Go North

This March, we made a “Go North” trip to the northern Finland. When we were planning for the trip, we asked ourselves:

“How about driving through the forests?”

“How about going to somewhere even in the north?”

Then we found Nellim on the map, we believed that’s where we would go. The result is we experienced a life we never had, we could be so close to the nature life, we sat by the fire in a yurt with visitors from different countries, we fell asleep under the starry sky, and much more.

Here we highlighted some memories from the “Go North” trip. Scroll down, let’s go north!

Special thanks to Wilderness Nellim, Hertz, Partioaitta, Beyond, Vitamin Well for the supports in this trip.

[Interview] Joe – Woolshed Gastropub

Introduction

While I stayed at an Airbnb in Helsinki, I was impressed by the interior and overall experience of the stay. I became interested to know the man behind this heart-warming flat for travelers away from home, so I contacted its owner Joe.

Woolshed is the place we were meeting, it is a bar & restaurant with a warm name owned by Joe, who is originally from Australia and currently living in Helsinki.

The place is in the city center, right next to Helsinki railway station. When we went in, this sheep shearing-themed space instantly warmed us up with its wooden constructs and thoughtful decors on the walls. Joe was waving to us, with a casual street outfit.
